Disaster Prevention poster

I really enjoyed creating my poster! I had a little extra time today and I was able to draw out all of my items I chose. I even finished the poster earlier than expected.Not to toot my own horn, but I do think my poster is pretty cute!Plus I am feeling much more comfortable writing in katakana. Yet, I am still annoyed that I can’t really type Japanese on my computer because I can’t seem to get rid of the kana keyboard! ( I hope I can get that figure out soon!) At least I am able to type Japanese onto my phone so not all is totally lost. Typing in romaji is pretty nice. I think it is helping me remember the katakana characters much faster. I remember having a hard time with ウェットティッシュ、 マスク and スプーン!  Because the way I was doing it I was writing in romaji and sounding out each character to myself and seeing if I could figure it out on my own ( I wanted to challenge myself). If I couldn’t figure it out then I would look up the image. As soon as I typed  ウェットティッシュ、 マスク and スプーン I felt so dumb. The words became so obvious to me! Why is Japanese so hard? With that being said, I still think I did a pretty good job!I am able to read and write in katakana and that’s way more than I could do three weeks ago! You gotta celebrate the little victories, to keep you going!

It is unfortunate that America doesn't take as much precaution as Japan when it comes to natural disasters. I feel as though America doesn’t take natural disasters seriously. I feel like we only “fix” the problem once everything has already happened. If someone from America were to have an emergency bag they would be called paranoid by everyone else. America feels like everyone is on a different team while Japan is all grouped under one team. And that is why it is so much harder to get everyone on board in America. Basically Individualism vs collectivism mindset.   understand that we don’t have nearly as many natural disasters as Japan but we still get quite a few and it would be nice if we took some precaution to ensure the safety of everyone. Although I’ve lived in tornado alley all of my life, I still don’t feel prepared for an actual tornado or really any type of natural disaster. All I know how to do is stay away from windows and go to my basement. The schools I went to never took the emergency drill seriously. The students only “cared” about it because we got to miss class for a bit. While Japanese citizens are ready before, during and after the disaster has occurred. Maybe we only have certain states that are very prone to natural disasters to do more disaster prevention drills. Or require/ provide them with emergency bags at least. States like California, Florida and Texas need it the most.
