Topic 6 Days off
Well lucky for me I get to celebrate many holidays since I come from three different cultures. American holidays aren’t usually my favorite but I like getting the school days off for them. Growing up, American holidays were just a nice excuse to see family or clean the house and catch up on some homework. The only Vietnamese holiday my family celebrates is Lunar new year. I love receiving all the red envelopes (all of the designs are so pretty) from family members ( even though I’ve been getting less over the years which makes me sad). It’s one of the easier holidays I can celebrate without my family.I love all the food I get to eat ( especially dim sum) and seeing my family members.I love giving people red envelopes but I don’t give money ( I just write nice cards to my friends because I am broke). Cambodian holidays are probably my favorite but they are harder to celebrate now that I am on my own in KC. Khmer new year is so much fun. Once it was April my family and I would go to Colombia, Missouri and go to the temple to celebrate. There's lots of food and people and on the last day there's a huge water fight (it gets very intense). Pchum Ben is another great Cambodian holiday that I love. It's a holiday where we feed and honor our ancestors. It is very similar to the day of the dead in Mexico.
Great observations! I want to celebrate with you! I love those red envelopes
